Thank you is a gesture of politeness, but at times we don't have a very polite response to thank you other than "welcome". Our polite response to thank you shows that we are happy to help, this makes a very positive impression on the other person.

Responding To "Thanks"-
Body language is a very important part of communication, As it is said that Body Language makes around 70% for the conversation. Some people say it to be 80-90%. You must follow these suggestions to improve Body Language while responding to "Thanks"
1. Facial expressions:
Facial expressions reveals our true feelings about any situation. A study tells that the best Facial expressions for responding to Thanks involved a slight raise of the eyebrows and and a slight smile. Which takes us to our next step that is Smile.
2. Smile:
A Smile indicates Happyness which tells the other person that you were happy to help them. Hence, Smile is actually the best expression for responding to a "Thanks".
3. Eyes:
"Eyes are the Windows to the Soul". Highly Dilated pupils shows desire and intrest in the conversation. Whereas, Rapidly blinking shows discomfort and Infrequent Blinking shows that you are forcefully showing interest So, you should avoid both and try to be very normal.
4. Gestures:
Gestures are body language signals. Some of gestures that should be avoided are:
- A clenched fist
- Crossed Arms
- Hands on hips
- Crossed legs
- Rapidly Tapping fingers
5. Personal Space:
Depending On the who the other person is you have to decide the space:
Public Distance: 12 to 25 Feet
Social Distance: 4 to 12 Feet
Personal Distance: 1.5 to 4 Feet
Intimate Distance: 6 to 18 inches

ReplyDeleteOne must make sure that he is not with clenched fist while talking formally. I guess its not a good gesture for someone to do formally . Make sure that you are confident and are ready with your homework whenever you go for some work, Interview or even some formal or informal meetings.
